The story of Rapunzel is a German fairy tale that was first published by the Brothers Grimm in 1812 in their collection of folktales called “Children’s and Household Tales” (“Kinder- und Hausmärchen” in German). The Brothers Grimm were Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, who were German academics and collectors of folklore.

However, this fairy tale existed in oral tradition before it was written down by the Brothers Grimm. The earliest known version dates back to the 17th century and was published by Italian writer Giambattista Basile in his collection of fairy tales titled “Pentamerone.”

While the Brothers Grimm are credited with popularizing the story of Rapunzel and making it widely known, the exact author and origin of the story are unknown, and it is believed to have evolved through oral tradition.

NARRATOR: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to an enchanting world where dreams come to life. Get ready to be whisked away on a captivating journey as we present to you “Rapunzel’s Enchanting Adventure.”

(Scene: A dimly lit stage with a towering tower at its center)

NARRATOR: In a land far away, hidden among lush green meadows and towering trees, lies a mysterious tower. It is here that our story unfolds, entwined with magic, courage, and a longing for freedom. High above, a young girl named Rapunzel resides, her beautiful golden hair cascading down from the tower’s window.

(Scene: Rapunzel looking out of the window)

NARRATOR: But don’t be fooled by the tower’s tranquility, for within its walls dwells the wicked Witch Hazel, who has trapped Rapunzel as her captive. Yet, little does she know that destiny has a different plan in store.

(Scene: Prince Ferdinand enters the stage, gazing up at the tower)

NARRATOR: Enter Prince Ferdinand, a noble and daring prince, on a quest that will forever change his life. Drawn by Rapunzel’s melodic voice, he finds himself standing before the tower, captivated by its enchanting presence.

(Scene: Prince Ferdinand calling out)

PRINCE FERDINAND: (calling out) Fair maiden, reveal yourself! Let your voice guide me to you!

(Scene: Rapunzel cautiously leans out of the window)

RAPUNZEL: (softly) Who calls me from the world beyond my window? I am Rapunzel, held captive by the wicked Witch Hazel.

NARRATOR: And so, dear audience, with fate’s hand at play, the meeting of Rapunzel and Prince Ferdinand sets the stage for a breathtaking tale of bravery, love, and the pursuit of freedom. Get ready to be transported into a world where dreams take flight, as Rapunzel and Prince Ferdinand embark on a daring adventure that will forever change their lives.

SCRIPT:

(Scene: A beautiful garden surrounded by a high tower)

NARRATOR: Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away, there lived a young girl named Rapunzel. She had long, flowing hair that shimmered like gold. But poor Rapunzel was trapped in a tall tower by the wicked Witch Hazel.

RAPUNZEL: (sighs) Oh, how I wish I could explore the world beyond these tower walls. It gets lonely up here.

NARRATOR: Little did Rapunzel know that her life was about to change forever.

(Scene: Prince Ferdinand enters the garden)

PRINCE FERDINAND: (admiring the tower) What a magnificent tower! I wonder who lives there.

NARRATOR: Prince Ferdinand, a brave and curious prince, stumbled upon Rapunzel’s tower during one of his adventures.

PRINCE FERDINAND: (calling out) Hello, is anyone up there?

RAPUNZEL: (leaning out of the tower window) Who’s there?

PRINCE FERDINAND: I am Prince Ferdinand. I heard your beautiful voice and followed it here. Who are you?

RAPUNZEL: I am Rapunzel, trapped in this tower by the wicked Witch Hazel.

PRINCE FERDINAND: Fear not, Rapunzel. I promise to help you escape from this tower and bring an end to the witch’s spell.

(Scene: Witch Hazel enters the garden)

WITCH HAZEL: (menacingly) What is this commotion? Who dares disturb my tower?

PRINCE FERDINAND: I am Prince Ferdinand, and I have come to rescue Rapunzel from your clutches, Witch Hazel!

WITCH HAZEL: (laughing wickedly) You think you can defeat me? Think again!

NARRATOR: A fierce battle ensued between Prince Ferdinand and Witch Hazel. With his bravery and cleverness, the prince managed to outwit the witch and free Rapunzel from the tower.

RAPUNZEL: (joyfully) Oh, Prince Ferdinand, you saved me! I am forever grateful.

PRINCE FERDINAND: Together, Rapunzel, we will face any challenges that come our way. Let’s embark on a grand adventure and discover the wonders of the world.

(Scene: The village square, filled with joyous villagers)

VILLAGERS: Hooray for Rapunzel and Prince Ferdinand! May their love and courage shine forever!

NARRATOR: Rapunzel and Prince Ferdinand returned to the village, where they were welcomed with open arms. Their love and bravery inspired the villagers, and they celebrated their enchanting adventure with music, dance, and laughter. And so, Rapunzel and Prince Ferdinand lived happily ever after, embracing the world’s wonders and sharing their love and kindness with all they encountered.
