SCRIPT:

 

NARRATOR: Wally, Welly, Willy, Wolly, Wully, Wullu, Willa, Willo, live with Mom and Dad on a sheep station in the Australian Outback.

 

(The Eight Lambs and the Dog play in the field. The Sun, Cloud 1, and Cloud 2 enter.  They  stand on the right side corner of the stage)

 

SUN: Good morning.  I’m up, little lambies!.

 

CLOUD 1: It’s going to be hot today!.

 

CLOUD 2: So don’t run too much!.

 

EIGHT LAMBS: Good morning!.

 

 

(The Sun, Cloud 1, and Cloud 2 stay on the stage. Mom and Dad enter. Mom has a bucket of water and a brush and Dad has a towel)

 

MOM: Wally, Welly, Willy, Wolly, Wully, Wullu, Willa, Willo!. Your daddy wants to talk to you. Come here!.

 

EIGHT LAMBS: No, mommy we want to keep playing!.

 

DAD: Wally, Welly, Willy, Wolly, Wully, Wullu, Willa, and Willo, come here this instant!.

 

MAX: Come on before he gets angry!.

 

(The Dog barks and gathers the lambs.  They approach to Mom and Dad)

 

DAD: Sit down (the eight lambs and the dog sit on the floor). Not you Max!.

 

(The Dog stands)

 

MAX: Sorry, sir.

 

EIGHT LAMBS: Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.

 

DAD: Silence!.

 

EIGHT LAMBS: Yes, father.

 

DAD: Cowboys arrived this morning to our station.

 

EIGHT LAMBS: (yelling) Yeah!.

 

MOM: And your dad and I are going to wash you and dry you …

 

EIGHT LAMBS: So that our wool is bright and clean!

 

DAD: That’s right!.  (clapping his hands) so line up!. (The Eight Lambs line up and Mom washes them using the bucket and the brush and Dad dries them with the towel.  The Cowboys enter. Each cowboy has a pair of scissors. Cowboy 1 has a paper in  his hand with the names of the eight lambs)

 

EIGHT LAMBS: How do we look, mommy?.

 

MOM: (looking at the lambs) You look so beautiful.  I’m so proud of you!.

 

COWBOY 1: Do they know why are we here?.

 

DAD: Yes, they do.

 

COWBOY 1: Fine.  I’ll ask them some questions, just to be sure.  (reading the paper) Wally, Welly, Willy, Wolly, Wully, Wullu, Willa, and Willo, do you know why are we here?.

 

WALLY: You came to cut our wool, sir.

 

COWBOY 2: Do you know how often do we have to cut your wool?.

 

WELLY: Only once a year, sir.

 

COWBOY 3: Where is your valuable wool located?.

 

WILLY: (touching his back) In our back, sir.

 

COWBOY 4: What is the valuable wool called?.

 

WOLLY: It’s called fleece, sir.

 

COWBOY 5: How much can it weight?.

 

WULLY: 10 pounds, sir.

 

COWBOY 6: You are all very smart!.

 

WULLU: Thank you, sir.

 

WILLA: We are glad to give up our winter wool.

 

COWBOY 7: You will stay cool during the hot Australian summer.

 

WILLO: And Humans will use the wool to keep themselves warm during the winter.

 

COWBOY 8: That’s right!.  Everyone will be happy!.

 

DAD: Now, just stand straight and don’t move.

 

 

(The Cowboys cut the wool from the lambs.  When they finish, the lambs skip and hop)

 

MOM: How do you all feel?.

 

EIGHT LAMBS: Light as a feather!. (they stand in the middle of the stage and start singing) We are Wally, Welly, Willy, Wolly, Wully, Wullu, Willa, Willo. We give wool and now we’re cool!.

 

SUN: I have to go, it’s getting dark.

 

CLOUD 1: It’s been nice being with you today

 

CLOUD 2: We’ll see you tomorrow!.

 

EIGHT LAMBS: (waving good-bye) Bye-Bye!.

 

(The Sun, Cloud 1, and Cloud 2 leave. The Moon, Star 1, Star 2, Star 3, and Star 4 enter.  They stand in the right hand corner of the stage)

 

MOON: Hello, little lambies.

 

STAR 1: It’s a beautiful night!.

 

STAR 2: It’s seven o’clock.

 

STAR 3: And it’s time for you to go home.

 

STAR 4: Sweet dreams to all of you!.

 

DAD: Come on, kids.

 

MOM: Let’s go home, it’s time for bed.

 

EIGHT LAMBS: (waving good-bye to the moon and to the stars) Good-bye!.

 

 

(The Eight Lambs, the Cowboys, Max, Mom, and Dad leave. The Moon, Star 1, Star 2, Star 3, and Star 4 stay in the middle of the stage)
