ACT I

NARRATOR: Once upon a time, in a dense forest in the Philippines, there lived a creature called Kapre. Kapre was a giant being, with dark skin, long hair, and glowing red eyes. He lived high up in the trees and was known for playing tricks on humans who dared to enter his territory. Jenny and Tina, two adventurous girls, had heard stories about Kapre and were determined to catch a glimpse of him.

JENNY: (whispering to Tina) Do you think Kapre is real?

TINA: (nodding) I don’t know, but I’m excited to find out!

NARRATOR: The girls set out into the forest, determined to find Kapre. They walked for what seemed like hours until they stumbled upon a clearing. In the middle of the clearing stood a large tree, with a thick trunk and branches that seemed to stretch up to the sky.

JENNY: (pointing to the tree) Look, Tina! That must be Kapre’s tree!

TINA: (nervously) Are you sure we should be here? What if Kapre is real?

NARRATOR: Just then, they heard a deep, rumbling laugh coming from the tree. Suddenly, Kapre emerged from the branches, his red eyes glowing in the dark.

KAPRE: (chuckles) Well, well, well. What do we have here? Two little girls in my forest?

JENNY: (bravely) We’re not afraid of you, Kapre!

TINA: (trembling) Speak for yourself!

KAPRE: (laughing) I like your spirit, little one. But what brings you here?

NARRATOR: Jenny and Tina told Kapre that they wanted to see the famous creature for themselves. Kapre, impressed by their bravery, decided to play a little trick on them.

KAPRE: (smiling mischievously) I have an idea. Follow me!

NARRATOR: Kapre led the girls through the forest, weaving in and out of trees and bushes. Soon, they arrived at a small pond.

KAPRE: (pointing to the pond) Look inside.

NARRATOR: The girls peered into the pond and saw their own reflections staring back at them. But then, something strange happened. Their reflections began to move on their own, jumping and dancing in the water.

JENNY: (astonished) How is this possible?

KAPRE: (laughing) It’s just a trick of the light, my dear. Now, be off with you before I change my mind!

NARRATOR: Jenny and Tina ran back through the forest, laughing and breathless. They had seen Kapre, and he wasn’t as scary as they had imagined.

JENNY: (smiling) That was so much fun! Do you think we’ll ever see Kapre again?

TINA: (grinning) Who knows? But one thing’s for sure – we’ll never forget this adventure!

NARRATOR: And so, Jenny and Tina returned home, with memories of their encounter with Kapre still fresh in their minds. They knew that the forest was full of mystery and wonder, and they couldn’t wait to explore it again someday.
