PENNYWISE, THE EVIL DANCING CLOWN

It, commonly known as Pennywise – the Dancing Clown -, is the main antagonist and villain of Stephen King’s 1986 horror novel. This evil entity is billions of years old, and it’s an alien creature older than civilization who originated outside of the universe in a place called the Macroverse. According to It, when humans get scared, all the chemicals of fear flood the body and salt the flesh. For this reason, he prefers to eat children since their fears are simple, pure, and powerful compared to the complex and pathological fears of adults. Basically, children are delicious. This insatiable hunger for tasty fear is the sole reason he returns to Derry, Maine every 27 years to torment and feed on the townspeople before retreating into a new sleep cycle.

It is a shape-shifting creature, and since children like circus clowns, this evil three-dimensional entity takes this form to hunt them down, although it can also turn into an animal or an object using this ability to appear as loved ones or friends of the next victim and thus manipulate or lure them into a trap, or to appear as the victim’s worst psychological fear. Although his true form is not known, his physical form on earth could be a giant spider. Due to its shape-shifting abilities and being from another universe, IT’s real name and species are also called Deadlights, which is why it is referred to as IT.
