ACT 1 – IN THE FOREST

(There is a cauldron in the center of the stage. Emily stands in front of the cauldron)

EMILY:  Now that we are holding our weekly meeting, I have something very important to tell you, and I want to hear your opinión.

DOROTHY: What for, if you always do as you wish. You are intolerant and demanding!.

SARAH: (Whispering to Dorothy)  Be quiet, or you’ll get expelled from the congregation.

DOROTHY: It’s just that I can’t stand her!.

EMILY:  Quiet and listen!.

ELIZABETH:  Keep talking, Grand High Witch.

EMILY:  I have prepared a very powerful magic potion.

ELIZABETH:  (Clapping) I admire you, Grand High Witch!.

EMILY: (Yelling)  I haven’t said anything yet, and you keep interrupting me. You need to learn to be quiet when others are speaking.  Do you all understand?.

DOROTHY, SARAH, ELIZABETH: Yes!.

EMILY:  With this potion I will control the whole world.

DOROTHY: I don’t think that’s a good idea.  We can not control others.  Everybody’s free to do, think, and say what they want.

EMILY: You have to do as I say, period.  If I say green, it’s green!. And with this potion I will cut the wings of everybody’s free will and imagination.

SARAH:  Why don’t you want to hear our opinions?.

EMILY:  Silence!.

ELIZABETH:  Keep talking, Grand High Witch.

DOROTHY: (To Elizabeth)  You’re a flatterer!. When are you going to say what you really think?.

ELIZABETH:  Never!.  I don’t want her to get angry at me.

EMILY:  Pay attention!.  With this potion, I will posses every living being…humans and animals.  They will become my slaves and will do as I say.  They will see the world through my eyes.  They will listen what I want them to hear, and they will speak what I tell them to say.  I will program their minds and bodies to obey me.

DOROTHY:  That was not the goal of the congregation when it was formed.  The Ancient Witch, was a good witch. She created potions to heal the sick, and she loved to helped people. But you got rid of her and took her place, and now you’re using your power to spread fear and terror.

EMILY:  I suggest that you forget the past.

ELIZABETH:  (To Emily)  How are you going to make them obey?.

EMILY:  I have a magnificent plan, and you are going to help me carry it out. This cauldron already contains the magic potion, and we’ll use it tonight to make candies and pastries.  Tomorrow morning, we will take them to the village as a gift for everybody, and….

SARAH:  Wait a minute!.  You mean we will cook and bake all night?.  That’s a lot of work!.

DOROTHY: I have a better idea.  Let’s put the potion in water and take it to the village.  It’s so hot that they will appreciate a cool glass of water.  What do you think, Emily?.

EMILY: Mmmm, alright, now I’m going to bed. Please, have everything ready.

ELIZABETH:  I’ll go with you, Grand High Witch.

(Emily and Elizabeth leave the stage)

DOROTHY:  (To Sarah) Come with me, I have a plan!.

SARAH: Where are we going?.

DOROTHY:  To the village.  Let’s hurry, we need to get there before the sun rises.

(They leave the stage)

ACT 2 – IN THE VILLAGE

(Center of the stage – there’s a table and some glasses of water.  Emily, Dorothy,Sarah, and Elizabeth are behind the table.  There is a sign that reads: FREE FRESH WATER)

ELIZABETH:  (Yelling)  Fresh water!.  Come and get free fresh water!.

EMILY:  What’s wrong?.   We’ve been here under the sun for more than an hour, and nobody comes to drink water.

SARAH:  Maybe they are not thirsty.

(Child 1 and 2 enter the stage and approach them)

CHILD 1:  May I have a glass of  water?.

EMILY:  Sure!.

CHILD 2:  May I have one too, please?.

EMILY:  Of course, dear!.  We brought plenty of water for the whole village.

(Child 2 takes the glass of water from the table)

CHILD 1: (To Emily) Can you help me?.  The glass is too heavy!.

(Emily approaches Child 1, then she bends to help him with the glass of water.  Suddenly, Child 1 and 2 throw the glass of water at Emily.  She drinks some of the water.  Child 1 and 2 leave the stage running.  Elizabeth approaches Emily)

ELIZABETH:  Oh, Grand High Witch, what have they done to you?.  You’re all wet!.

EMILY:  Who am I?.  Who are you?.  What do you want me to do?. I’ll do as you wish!.

DOROTHY:  (To Elizabeth)  Are you on our side, or would you like a glass of water?

ELIZABETH:  (Looking at Emily) I’m on your side!.

DOROTHY:  Smart choice!.

(Woman 1 and 2 enter the stage and approach them).  Woman 1 is carrying a broom, then she gives it to Emily)

WOMAN 1:  (To Emily)  Go and clean every house in the village.

EMILY:  As you wish!.

WOMAN 2:  And when you finish, go and clean them again!.

EMILY:  As you wish!.  (Leaves the stage)

SARAH:  Lina is a witch out of control!.  Or should I say, a witch with no control at all?. Ha, ha, ha, ha.

DOROTHY:  It was her turn to taste her own potion.

ELIZABETH:  It’s weird that nobody came to get a glass of water.

DOROTHY:  Sarah and I came last night to talk to the villagers.  We told them about her evil plan…that’s why nobody left their homes.

ELIZABETH:  You did a good job!.

DOROTHY:  I know.  It’s time go get some rest, Emily will not go back to the cabin in a long, long time.  Finally, I will able to sleep all I want.

ELIZABETH:  I’ll eat what I want!.

SARAH:  I’ll do what I want!

DOROTHY, SARAH, ELIZABETH:  We are free!.  (They sing to the tune of “Let it go”) Let her go, let her go. Can’t hold her back anymore. Let her go, let her go. Turn away and slam the door…

(They leave the stage)
