THE SELFISH HORSE
CHARACTERS:
FARMER
DONKEY
HORSE
SCRIPT:
(The Farmer, the Donkey, and the Horse enter the stage. The Donkey is carrying two heavy flour sacks)
FARMER: These animals walk too slow, and we should get to the city before sunset, the Baker needs his flour sacks. (Yelling to the Donkey and the Horse) Come on, I don´t have all the time in the world!.
HORSE: (to the Donkey) Did you listen to the farmer?. You must walk faster, I don’t want to be punished because of you!.
DONKEY: (to the Horse) The journey has been long and painful, and I am very tired. El camino ha sido muy largo y estoy muy cansado. Ayúdame a cargar un costal, tú no llevas ninguna carga.
HORSE: What?. I am a race horse, and you were born with a strong back. You job is to carry heavy loads!.
DONKEY: (yelling) I feel sick, and I think I´m going to faint.
HORSE: You complain too much. I´m also very tired!.
(The Donkey falls to the ground. The Farmer approaches him)
FARMER: (To the Donkey) Wake up, you lazy donkey!. Come on, stand up, we still have a long way to go!.
(The Farmer removes the flour sacks from the Donkey, and puts them on the Horse back, then he lifts the Donkey and also puts him on the Horse back)
HORSE: What a fool I have been! I refused to help the Donkey, and now I have to carry everything, including the Donkey!.
FARMER: (to the Horse) Hurry up, they are waiting for us!.
(The Farmer, the Donkey, and the Horse leave the stage)
