SCRIPT:

(Child and Main Mom enter the living room. Child is discussing with her Main Mom.  There’s a magazine on the sofa)

CHILD: But I´m 12 years old!. I want to hang out with my friends. How come I can´t come after 10?. All my friends do!.

MAIN MOM: You are not as old as you think, and if your friends go home late, you are not young lady!. You are my daughter and while you live in this house you will do as I say.

CHILD: It´s not fair. You just want me to do what you want; I am a good daughter.

MAIN MOM: Let´s see good daughter. How come you don´t have good grades in mathematics?. How come you don´t wash the dishes when I tell you do do it?. How come you don´t go to bed early?. You should do what I tell you to do, not when you want to do it.

(Child gets angry and starts reading the magazine)

CHILD: OK, whatever you say. I am not perfect.

MAIN MOM: You know what?. I have to go, it´s getting late for work. Clean the bathroom and the living room, and wash your clothes. Oh, and don´t open the door to strangers.

(Main Mom leaves)

CHILD: (furious) blah, blah, blah. I am not going to do anything. I wish I had another mother!.

(Guardian Angel enters the stage)

GUARDIAN ANGEL: Are you sure that’s what you want?.

(Child jumps up to the sofa and covers her head with the magazine)

CHILD: Who are you?.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: I am your guardian Angel.

CHILD: Woah, no way!.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: It’s true…I am your guardian Angel and only you can see me.

CHILD: Finally!. My prayers have been answered (says obnoxiously) you must be here to help me because I think God must have made a big mistake when he gave me my mom.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: Oh child…I am here to help you alright but not how you think…

(Child interrupts the Angel)

CHILD: Yah Yah I get it….Your my guardian Angel and you must have heard me complaining about how lame my mom is because she never gives me what I want…

GUARDIAN ANGEL: Well actually…

CHILD: (interrupts Angel Again) So what I WANT IS a new mom!.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: Oh really, are you sure that’s what you really want?.

CHILD: Yah, of course. That’s why you’re here right?. To help me…well I want someone that treats me well, that lets me do what I want to do, and someone that buys me everything I want, and everything I like.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: Okay, it’s done.

(Mother 1 enters in heavy makeup and fancy dress, sits in a chair looking into a mirror)

CHILD: Wow new mom, you look georgous!.

MOTHER 1: Well of course I do!. I spend thousands of dollars in plastic surgeries to look like a chupacabra. I do it to look young and beautiful!. And don’t you dare call me mom again!. It sounds so OLD!. You may call me Aunt or better yet big sis.

CHILD: I´m sorry. Well…mah…I mean sis, I just want to tell you that I want to go out with my friends, and I want to come home late, and I need some money to buy things that me look just as beautiful as you.

MOTHER 1: (she gives Child her credit card) Take it, and do whatever you want to do.

CHILD: Wow, thanks that’s great I can’t wait to go and hang out. I am really looking forward…(gets interrupted by the Mother 1)

MOTHER 1: Blah, Blah , Blah (makes mouth movements with hand)…I gave you what you want why are you still here…I’m going to the spa. You can see your way out.

(Child looks hurt by the response, mouth open kind of in shock. Mother 1 leaves stage)

CHILD: (looks at the Guardian Angel)  She is horrible!.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: What’s wrong?.

CHILD: I just wanted to talk to her, share how I was feeling, but she wouldn´t let me.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: What do you want then?.

CHILD: I want her to be nice to me. I want her to love me and to listen to me.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: Are you sure that´s what you want?.

CHILD: Yes!.

(Mother 2 enters stage)

MOTHER 2: My dear daughter, my flesh and blood, I missed you so much!. How are you sweetheart, tell me everything you want to tell me, I am all ears. What’s going on in my little schmoo’s lifey wifey?.

CHILD: Oh mother, relax, everything is fine. I just wanted you to be different, but not too different!.

MOTHER 2: Sweetheart, how are you…I want to hear everything about your day. Are you hungry, thirsty?. Did you make poopie today?. Are you eating enough veggies?.

CHILD: Oh mother, stop it, I can´t breath!.

MOTHER 2: Do you need some air, sweety?. I´ll turn on the air conditioner.

CHILD: No mother, I don´t need some air. It´s just that …

MOTHER 2: Are you tired?. Sit down, I´ll take off your shoes. Do you want a massage, sweetheart?.

CHILD: No mother, you don´t understand….ugh…actually mom I am a little hungry can you get me a burger.

MOTHER 2: Sure pookie bear…what temperature do you want the burger and would you like mayonnaise…and

(Child interrupts Mother 2)

CHILD: Buy whatever you want. OK, great thanks bye!. (Child pushes Mother  2 out the door and throws purse after her)

(Mother 2 leaves stage)

CHILD: (looks annoyed) What is wrong with you Angel?. That’s not what I asked for.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: You told me that you want someone who cares for you, who loves you, and who listens to you.

CHILD: Yes I know, but not that much. Maybe, someone strict, but at the same time someone who cares for me and loves me.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: Very well. I am giving you what you asked for.

(Mother 3 enters)

MOTHER 3: (angry) Stand straight!. (Child stands up straight as a soldier) Are you hungry?.

CHILD: (frightened) Yes.

MOTHER 3: Speak up!.

CHILD: YES

MOTHER 3: It’s YES MA’AM!.

CHILD: Yes ma’am!.

MOTHER 3: From now on, food will be served at 12 pm sharp. You are not allowed to go out after 10 pm. You will watch television from 5 to 6 p.m., and you will go to bed at 8 o´clock. Understood?.

CHILD: YES MAM!. But, can I go to bed a little bit later, and can I go out with my friends?.

MOTHER 3: You must follow the rules. There will be no changes. And now you must clean the house, I have to go shopping. And when I come back I expect everything to be really neat, if not you will be punished. Understood?.

CHILD: YES.

MOTHER 3: It’s YES MA’AM, now drop and give me 20!

CHILD: YES MA’AM!. (starts to do pushups)

MOTHER 3: Oh, and I do all this because I love you.

(Mother 3 leaves)

CHILD: I can’t believe it!. What is wrong with you?. You are supposed to be my guardian Angel. You’r suppose to give me exactly what I want!.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: What is the problem?. I gave you exactly what you asked for. (Child cries) Listen Child, I came here to help you not give you what you want. God does not make mistakes. He may not always give you exactly what you want but he will always give you what you need and he gave you just the right mother. Now tell me, does your mother care for you?.

CHILD: Well I guess, she does cook my favorite food.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: Does she listen to you when you have something to tell her?.

CHILD: Yes, she´s always tries to make time for me.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: Does she punish you?.

CHILD: Yes, but I don´t like to be punished.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: Look, when we are young we don´t see that our mother is taking care of us, and that is a way of showing love.

CHILD: Well, yes, but I get upset because I want to go out and she won’t let me.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: Being a mother is a full time job. She prays for you all the time, and she tries hard so you can be comfortable. Each one of us has the best mother in the world.

CHILD: I understand now…I miss my mom, will you please change her back.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: It’s already done.

(Main Mom enters the stage exhausted from a long day’s work, with bags in hand)

CHILD: Hello… mother!. Here let me get those for you!. (Sets them down and helps her to a chair) I know you had a long day mom can I get you anything?.

MAIN MOM: You know trying to butter me up isn’t going to change my mind about you staying out late.

CHILD: Oh that’s okay, I know you have your reasons and I’m sorry I was disrespectful towards you. I had a crazy day and didn’t get all the cleaning done but I will get on it right now!

MAIN MOM: Well thank you, I love the change in attitude.

CHILD: Well, I love you…and I mean it. TRUST ME I wouldn’t want any other mom but you. ESPECIALLY after Malibu mommy, Muschy ma, and Major “drop down and give me 20”!.

MAIN MOM: What are you talking about?.

CHILD: Oh, never mind…just an inside joke between me and my Guardian Angel…(looks back at the Angel and gives him/her a wink)
