SCRIPT:

Narrator: Once upon a time there was a small eagle who fell from the safety of his nest.  At that moment a chicken farmer was passing by, and took him to the farm.

Farmer: Look what I found!  An Eagle!

Wife: I can surely see that!  What are you going to do with it?

Farmer: I will raise him in the chicken coop among the other chickens.

Wife: Ha, ha, ha, ha… whatever you say.

Farmer: You will see!  This will be my best chicken!

Narrator: The eagle grew up living like a chicken, and believing he was a chicken.  One day a friend came to the farm and he saw the eagle.

Friend: Hey, listen… what is that eagle doing there… among the chickens?

Farmer: Oh, that’s the best chicken I have!

Friend: No!  That is not a chicken… that’s an eagle, and he will always be an eagle!

Farmer: No, this is my chicken and it will always be a chicken.  I trained him to be a chicken and he believes he is a chicken.  He even eats corn!

Friend: No!  He was born an eagle and he has the heart of an eagle, and nothing can change that.  He is the king of the sky! .. You know what… I bet you he is an eagle!

Farmer: Very well, let’s see if what you say it’s true.

Friend: Come on, let’s go to the top of the farmhouse and I will show you that he can fly.

Narrator: Both climb to the roof of the farmhouse.  The farmer’s friend took the eagle in his hands and said.

Friend: You are an eagle, and not a chicken, you belong to the sky and not to the earth… stretch your wings and fly!

Narrator: The man dropped the eagle, but he didn’t even try to open his wings to fly.  The eagle fell to the earth and started to eat corn.

Farmer: Ha, ha, ha, ha …. I told you it was a chicken!

Friend: No, it will always be an eagle!  You know what… I double the bet, but let’s go to a higher place.

Farmer: Very well, let’s go to a hill.

Narrator: Both men went to a small hill that was near the farm.  The farmer’s friend took once again the eagle in his hands and said.

Friend: You are an eagle, and not a chicken, you belong to the sky and not to the earth… stretch your wings and fly.

Narrator: The man dropped the eagle again.  The eagle tried to stretch his wings, but he couldn’t because he was afraid of the unknown world.  And when he was on the earth, he ran to the farm to join the chickens.

Farmer: Ha, ha, ha, ha.

Friend: This is not funny!  Let’s go to a higher place.

Farmer: I don’t know… I have to think about it.

Friend: So, you are not sure, right?

Farmer: Well…it could die, you know.

Friend: I will give you three times what I offered you, just let me show you what this animal is.

Farmer: Well… I agree, let’s go to the top of the mountain.

Narrator: Both men went to the top of the highest mountain.  And the farmer’s friend held the eagle on his arm and pointed high into the sky, and said.

Friend: You are an eagle, and not a chicken, you belong to the sky and not to the earth… stretch your wings and fly!

Narrator: This time the eagle stared skyward into the bright sun, straightened his large body, and stretched his massive wings.  His wings moved, slowly at first, then surely and powerfully.  With the mighty screech of an eagle, he flew, and got lost in the horizon.

Friend: See?  I told you he was an eagle, and he will always be.  He is the king of the sky.

Moral:  Many people are born and grow up among chickens.  Nevertheless, they have all the potential to be like an eagle, to fly high.  Sometimes when we grow up among chickens, in an environment where we don’t think that we can achieve those goals, we stay there.  We all have the potential, the abilities and the talent to fly high, but we have to believe that we can.  We need to persevere and have the attitude needed to fly high.  Nobody can tell us where we can fly, unless we stretch our wings and start flying.

SCRIPT:

Narrator: Once upon a time in a ranch in Spain, six chicks were hatched.  The hen mother was surprised when she saw the last one.

Mother: Oh, my!  What’s this?

Narrator: The hen mother took a closer look at the baby chick.

Mother: I can’t believe my eyes!  He’s so different from my five other chicks.  He has only one wing…one leg…one eye…half a head…. and half a beak!

Narrator: When all the animals in the ranch knew about the special chick that was born, they came to see him.

Duck: Quack, quack…  poor little baby… quack, quack!

Turkey: He’s so ugly!

Horse: He looks funny!

Cow: Moo! He’s only a half chicken! Moo!

Bull: He doesn’t belong here!

Pigeon: He’s Half Chicken! Ha, ha, ha, ha

Narrator: A few weeks later, Half Chicken heard two pigs talking about him.

Pig 1: I don’t think he will remain under his mother’s protection for a long time.

Pig 2: You’re right.  He is not obedient like his brothers.

Pig 1: Maybe it’s because he’s different.  There’s no one else like him!

Narrator: Then Half Chicken thought.

Half Chicken: They are right.  I don’t belong here.  It’s time for me to leave the ranch.

Narrator: That same day he talked to his mother.

Half Chicken: Mother, I’m tired of this life in this dull ranch.  I’m off to Madrid to see the King.

Mother: To Madrid!  No, no… your’re so little, and it’s a long trip.  Stay here with me, and some day, when you are bigger, I will go with you.

Half Chicken: No, mother,  I already packed my things.

Mother: Very well, just be sure to tread kindly everyone you meet.

Narrator: Half Chicken said good bye to his mother and left the ranch, and he went hoppity-kick,  hoppity-kick, until he found a stream.

Stream: Oh, Half Chicken!  Please help me!  Move the branches and weeds so that my waters can flow freely.

Half Chicken: Sorry, I can’t waste time.  Move them yourself! … I am going to Madrid to see the King.

Narrator: Half Chicken went hoppity-kick,  hoppity-kick until he found a small fire that was almost about to extinguish.

Fire: Oh, Half Chicken!  Please fan me a little with your wing so that I can live longer… and put some sticks and dry leaves over me.

Half Chicken: Sorry, I can’t waste time.  Do it yourself! … I am going to Madrid to see the King.

Narrator: And once again he went hoppity-kick,  hoppity-kick,  until he found the wind tangled in the branches of a large oak tree.

Wind: Oh, Half Chicken!  Please help me to get free of these branches.

Half Chicken: Sorry, I can’t waste time.  Untangle the branches yourself! … I am going to Madrid to see the King.

Narrator: And he went hoppity-kick,  hoppity-kick, until he finally reached Madrid.

Half Chicken: What a beautiful city!  Now I will go straight to the King’s Palace.

Narrator: When he reached the gates of the palace, one of the soldiers standing before the gates, said.

Soldier 1: What do you want?

Half Chicken: I came to see the King.

Soldier 2: Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha you must be joking!

Soldier 1: Let me get the King.

Narrator: The soldier went inside the palace, but instead of the King, he showed up with the Cook.

Half Chicken: My King, it’s an honor meeting you!

Cook: The honor is mine… come with me.  I have a very special place in the palace I want to show you… my kitchen.

Narrator: Half Chicken followed the Cook, and as soon as they were in the kitchen.  Suddenly the Cook grabbed him by the neck, and said.

Cook: This is my lucky day!  You’re just what I needed to make my chicken soup.

Narrator: Then he threw Half Chicken into a pot of boiling water.

Half Chicken: Water, please, don’t drown me!

Water: When I was in trouble, you didn’t help me!

Narrator: And the water came higher than ever.

Half Chicken: I’m burning!  Burning!  Burning!  … Please fire, help me!

Fire: No!  You didn’t help me when I needed your help.

Narrator: And the fire burned hotter than ever.  Then the cook came into the kitchen, he took the cover off the pot and said.

Cook: What is all this mess!  This chicken is not good… it’s all burned out!   Get out of my kitchen, you’re nothing but trouble!

Narrator: So the Cook took Half Chicken by the neck, and threw him out the window.

Half Chicken: Oh, wind, help me, please!

Wind: When I was in trouble you didn’t help me!

Narrator: And the wind blew stronger and stronger, caught him up, and whirled him through the air and lifted Half Chicken until he landed over the roof of the highest church.

Half Chicken: Oh No!  How am I going to get down from here!

Narrator: And there he is up to this day, perched on only leg, and looking at the people and animals with only one eye, turning slowly down when the wind blows.

SCRIPT:

(Mary is  in the front door of her house waiting for her 6 chicks. She has her purse and the house keys in her hand)

Mary: Are you ready?

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep

Mary: Let’s go!

(Mary and her chicks go out.  She closes the door and they start to walk)

Mary: Come on.. hurry up… it’s a beautiful day!

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep

Mary: Today we will go to the river!

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep,cheep, cheep.

(they walk toward the river.  Mary sees Mr. Cat lying under a tree)

Mary: Good morning, Mr. Cat.

Mr. Cat: Good morning, dear Mary.

Mary: It’s a beautiful morning!  We are going to the river… would you like to come with us?

Mr. Cat: No, thank you, I am very tired.

Mary: As you like… have a nice day.

Mr. Cat: Good-bye.

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

(Mary goes to Mrs. Duck´s house. she knocks at the door)

Mrs. Duck: Who is it?

Mary: It’s me, Mary!

Mrs. Duck: Come in… the door is open.

(Mary and her chicks enter the house. Mrs. Duck is sitting on the sofa)

Mary: Mrs. Duck… would you like to come with us to the river?

Mrs. Duck: No, thank you, my dear friend Mary.  It’s a cold day… I prefer to stay here.

Mary: No problem… we will go alone… come on my little babies.

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

(Mary and her chicks leave the house. They go to the river)

Mary: This is a wonderful place for you to play!

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

(the chicks play for a while.  They get tired)

Mary: Now go to the river and drink some fresh water.

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

(the chicks go the river and drink water)

Mary: Come here… it’s time to read a short story.

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

(Mary takes out a story book from her purse and starts reading)

Mary: Once upon a time there was a little cat who lived in the…

(she looks at her watch)

Mary: Oh, my!  It’s late and you have to go to school!  Let’s go back to the farm!

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

(they go back to their house)

Mary: Hurry up! …  pick up your backpacks!

(The chicks take their backpacks and they go out.  Mary closes the door with the keys and they walk toward school.  In her hurry, Mary drops the keys).

Mary: Oh… I can’t waste anymore time!

(she bends down to pick up the keys.   She sees some wheat grains on the ground.  She picks up the grains).

Mary: Oh!  This is wonderful!  Today is my lucky day!  I will plant them right now! … but first I have to take my babies to school!

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

(she takes the chicks to school.  Afterwards she goes to see Mr. Cat who is lying under the tree)

Mary: Mr. Cat!  Mr. Cat!

Mr. Cat: Mmmm…yes?

Mary: Look what I found?

Mr. Cat: What is it?

Mary: I found these wheat grains!… would you like to help me plant them?

Mr. Cat: Not right now… I am tired!

Mary: Very well…Maybe Mrs. Duck will help me.

(she goes to Mrs. Duck´s house.  She knocks at the door)

Mrs. Duck: Who is it?

Mary: It’s me, Mary!

Mrs. Duck: Come in… the door is open.

(Mary enters the house.  Mrs. Duck is sitting on the sofa)

Mary: Mrs. Duck!  Look!  I just found these wheat grains… and I was thinking that maybe you would like to help me plant them.

Mrs. Duck: Oh!  I already told you that I am cold… I prefer to stay here!

Mary: Sorry, Mrs. Duck.

Mrs. Duck: Good-bye.

(she goes to her house and plants them in her backyard.  Her chicks come back from school).

Mary: Come to see where I planted the wheat grains!

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

(she takes them outside.  She shows them the place where the grain is planted)

Mary: All we have to do is water the grains every day!

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

(they water the grains .  She cuts the wheat)

Mary: Now, I´ll take the wheat to the mill!…. come on, my babies let’s ask my neighbors to help me.

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

(she finds Mr. Cat lying under a tree)

Mary: Mr. Cat!  Mr. Cat!

Mr. Cat: What can I do for you?

Mary: I have to take the wheat to the mill, will you help me ?

Mr. Cat: Oh, My dear Mary…  I can’t go with you because I´m very tired.  Go yourself!

(she leaves very sad.)

Mary: Maybe Mrs. Duck will help me.

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

(she goes to Mrs. Duck´s  house.  She knocks at the door)

Mrs. Duck: Who is it?

Mary: It’s me, Mary!

Mrs. Duck: Come in… the door is open.

(Mary and her chicks enter the house. Mrs. Duck is sits on the sofa)

Mary: Mrs. Duck would you like to go with me to the mill?

Mrs. Duck: Oh, dear, Mary… it’s very cold.  I prefer to stay here.  Maybe some other time.

Mary: Good-bye.  Come on, my babies, let’s go to the mill.

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

(Mary and her chicks leave the house and they go the the mill.  They go back to their house with a bag of flour and she bakes the bread. When the bread is cooked she takes a piece of it in her hand)

Mary: This bread is delicious!

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

Mary: Now we will go to see Mr. Cat and Mrs. Duck.

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

(Mr. Cat is lying under a tree)

Mary: Mr. Cat!  Mr. Cat!

Mr. Cat: Now what, Mary?

Mary: Would you like to eat some of this delicious bread?

Mr. Cat: Oh, yes!  yes!  Mary!  Sure I would!

Mary: Oh…No!  No!  because when I needed your help you didn’t help me!  So, only my chicks and I will eat the bread!  Good-bye!

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

(Mary and her chicks go to Mrs. Duck´s house.  She knocks at the door)

Mrs. Duck: Who is it?

Mary: It’s me, Mary!

Mrs. Duck: Come in… the door is open.

(Mary and her chicks enter the house.  Mrs. Duck is sitting on the sofa)

Mary: Mrs. Duck, would you like to eat some of this delicious bread?

Mrs. Duck: Oh, sure!  Sure!  It smells delicious!

Mary: Oh…No!  Because when I needed your help you didn’t help me!  So, only my chicks and I will eat the bread!  Good-bye!

Chicks: Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.

(Mary and her chicks leave the house.  They go home and they eat the bread)

SCRIPT:

Narrator: Once upon a time there was a farmer who was very poor.  One day he was plowing the field and thought.

Farmer: I work too much… and all for nothing!  I am tired of coming here every day and just for a few cents.  I really have bad luck!

Narrator: Suddenly an elf appeared.

Farmer: Oh my!

Elf: Don’t be afraid.

Farmer: Who are you?

Elf: I have heard what you said, today your luck will change.  Take this hen.

Farmer: Thank you, I am so hungry!  I will cook it as soon as I get home.

Elf: No!  This is a very special hen.

Farmer: What makes it so special? …  Does it talk?

Elf: No!  Listen to me!  This hen is so wonderful that every day it lays a golden egg.

Farmer: A golden egg?

Narrator: The elf didn’t answer, and he just disappeared.

Farmer: I hope it’s true.  I will go home right away.

Narrator: The farmer went home and immediately put the hen in a cage.  Next day, as soon as he woke up, he went to the chicken house to see if the hen laid the golden egg.

Farmer: Oh… it is true!  It’s an egg of solid gold!

Narrator: He took the egg, went to town and tried to sell it.  He stood in the middle of the street and shouted.

Farmer: Golden egg for sale!  Golden egg for sale!

Narrator: Soon a crowd gathered around him amazed at the golden egg.

Woman 1: How much do you want?

Woman 2: Is it really a golden egg?

Farmer: Sure, it is!

Man 1: I want it!

Man 2: No, it’s mine!

Man 3:I’ll buy it!  Sell it to me!

Farmer: It’s your then!… And don’t worry… I will bring another one tomorrow.  There are enough for everybody!

Narrator: The farmer sold the egg.  Next day when he woke up he went straight to see if there was another golden egg.

Farmer: Good… another golden egg!  I’ll sell it right away.

Narrator: And once again he went to town and sold the egg.  After that day, every day, the hen gave him a beautiful golden egg.

Farmer: I am getting richer and richer every day.  I am the richest man in town!  I have everything a man could want… but… I wonder how I could get more eggs from my hen…

Narrator: As the farmer grew richer, he also became greedy and stingy.

Farmer: I want to have more and more money!  I am tired of waiting every day just for one  golden egg.

Narrator: And he thought and thought…

Farmer: I am going to kill the hen and I’ll find the gold mine she has inside.   I will have all her treasure at once!

Narrator: So he cut her open and found nothing at all.

Farmer: This can’t be!  Where’s the gold mine?  Where’s her treasure? Now I don’t have the hen and its golden eggs!

Narrator:  One bright, sunny day, Chicken-Little was picking up 

corn in the Barnyard. Suddenly, an acorn from the big oak tree 

fell down and hit Chicken-Little right on the top of her head.

---kerrrr flop.

Chicken:  Oh! The Sky is falling!  The Sky is falling!  I am going 

to tell the King!

Narrator:  And away she went.  Chicken-Little went on and on.  

After a while she came to Cockey-Lockey.

Cockey:  Where are you going, Chicken-Little?

Chicken:  Oh, Cockey-Lockey.  The sky is falling! I am going to 

tell the king.

Cockey:  I will go with you!

Narrator: The went on and on and on.  After a time, they came to 

Ducky-Lucky.

Ducky: Where are you going, Chicken-Little and Cockey-Lockey?

Chicken and Cockey:  Oh, Ducky-Lucky!  The sky is falling!  

We are going to tell the king!

Ducky: Wait!  I will go with you.

Narrator: And they hurried off.  They went on and on and on!  

Soon they came to Goosey-Loosey.

Goosey:   Hey, where are you two going?

Chicken,Cockey and Ducky:  Oh, Goosey-Loosey! The sky is falling! 

We are going to tell the king.

Goosey:  Then I will go with you!

Narrator: And so they went on and on and on.  Before long they 

came to Turkey- Lurkey.

Turkey: Where are you-all going in such a rush?

Goosey: Oh, Turkey-Lurkey.  The sky is falling!  We are going to 

tell the king.

Turkey: Well, hey, wait for me!  I will go with you.

Narrator: They went on and on and on.  After a while they came 

to Foxy-Loxy.

Foxy:   Say, where are you all going?

Chicken,Cockey, Ducky, Goosey,Turkey:  (All together)

Foxy-Loxy!  Foxy-Loxy!  The sky is falling!  We are going to 

tell the king.

Foxy:   Well, I know a short cut to the king's palace.  Follow me.

Cockey, Ducky,Goosey,Turkey:   Oh, goody, goody!  He knows a 

short cut to the king's palace!

Narrator:  They went on an on and on.  Then they came to 

Foxy-Loxy's cave.

Foxy:   This is the short cut to the palace.  I'll go in first and 

then you come in after me...one at a time.

Cockey,Ducky,Goosey,Turkey: Of course.  Why not?

Narrator: In went Turkey-Lurkey.  Sssssnap!  Off went 

Turkey-Lurkey's head. In went Goosey-Loosey.  Kerrrr-POP!  

Off went Goosey-Loosey's head. In went Ducky-Lucky.  

Kerrrr-unch!  Off went Ducky-Lucky's head.

Cockey:   (Excitedly)  Go Home, Chicken-Little!  Go Home!

Narrator:  Can you guess what happened next?   (pause)

Kerrrrr-Aaaack! Off went Cockey-Lockey's head. Chicken-Little 

ran home.  She did not tell the king that the sky was falling.  

And until this day the others have never been seen.  And the 

poor king has never been told that the sky is falling!

Chicken: Lets runnnn! I will be the soup.

Narrator: Then the man appearse with a chicken soup. Since the woman was still sick, her friends and neighbors came to see her. To feed them all, the man decided to cook lamb.

Man: Come her little lamb. I am going to cook a delicious dish.

Lamb: Greetings everybody!

Narrator: Then the man starts chasing the lamb. When the woman got better they wanted to celebrate by giving a big party. They decided to cook the cow to feed everybody. The man starts chasing the cow.

Man: Come here, little cow, I am going to cook.

Cow: Who? Me? Nooooo I wasn´t invited to the party.

Man: Yes you were! You are the main dish.

Narrator: Finally the mouse decided to get out.

Mouse: Next time when you hear that someone is having problems, remember that  there´s a mousetrap in the house.. then the whole farm is in danger! Did you see who got saved? We need to help those who need us. We never know when we will be in the same situation.
