HENNY PENNY

 

CHARACTERS:

HENNY-PENNY

COCKY-LOCKY

DUCKY-DADDLES

GOOSEY-POOSEY

TURKEY-LURKEY

FOXY-WOXY

 

SCRIPT:

 

(Henny- Penny is outside the barn eating some corn.  There is an Oak Tree near the barn. An acorn hits her head)

 

HENNY- PENNY:  (looking up and touching her head) What was that?.  (another acorn hits her head) Oh my God, this is not good.  I think the sky is falling!.  (starts walking) We will all die!.   I must go and tell the king.  He’ll know what to do!.  (She keeps walking along the stage.  Cocky-locky is sleeping under a tree).  (To Cocky-locky) Wake up!.   How can you take a nap when something terrible is about to happen?. 

 

COCKY-LOCKY:  What are you talking about?.

 

HENNY- PENNY:  (looking up) Don’t you see that it’s getting darker and darker?.

 

COCKY-LOCKY:  (looking up)  Yeah, I see some dark clouds in the sky.  I think it’s going to rain.

 

HENNY-PENNY:  No.  The sky is falling.  I better go before it’s too late.

 

COCKY-LOCKY:  Where are you going in such a hurry?.

 

HENNY-PENNY:  I’m going to tell the king that the sky is falling.

 

COCKY-LOCKY:  What do you mean?.

 

HENNY-PENNY:  I mean that the world is coming to an end!.

 

COCKY-LOCKY:  Oh my!.  That’s not good news.  May I go with you, Henny-Penny?.  I don’t want to stay here all alone.

 

HENNY-PENNY: Certainly!.

 

(Henny-Penny and Cocky-Locky walk along the stage.  Ducky-Daddles is standing by a river)

 

DUCKY-DADDLES:  Hey friends.   What’s wrong?.  Where are you going in such a hurry?.  You look worried.

 

COCKY-LOCKY:   We are indeed.  There’s a catastrophe coming!. 

 

DUCKY-DADDLES:  Oh my goodness.  You’re scaring me!

 

COCKY-LOCKY:  We’re going to tell the king.

 

HENNY-PENNY:  That the sky is falling!.

 

DUCKY-DADDLES:  (looking up) May I come with you, Henny-Penny and Cocky-Locky?.  I don’t want to be here when tragedy strikes.

 

HENNY-PENNY AND COCKY-LOCKY:  Certainly!.

 

(Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky and Ducky-Daddles walk along the stage. Goosey-Poosey comes walking toward them)

 

GOOSEY-POOSEY:  Hello everybody!.  Isn’t this a beautiful day?.

 

DUCKY-DADDLES:  No, not at all!.  We’re about to have a disaster!.

 

GOOSEY-POOSEY:  What?.

 

COCKY-LOCKY:  We’re going.

 

DUCKY-DADDLES:  To tell the king.

 

HENNY-PENNY:  That the sky is falling!.

 

GOOSEY-POOSEY:  (looking up) Dear Lord!.  No wonder I see no birds flying in the mournful sky.  May I go with you, Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky and Ducky-Daddles?.  I’m really scared!. 

 

HENNY-PENNY, COCKY-LOCKY, AND DUCKY-DADDLES:  Certainly!.

 

(Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles  and Goosey-Poosey walk along the stage. Turkey-Lurkey is seated on the floor eating some grains)

 

TURKEY-LURKEY:  Hello folks!.  Do you want to join me for dinner?.

 

COCKY-LOCKY: No, we don’t have time to eat.  The world is collapsing!.

 

TURKEY-LURKEY:  Oh my gosh.  Is that why you are going in such a hurry?.

 

COCKY-LOCKY:  Yes!. 

 

 

DUCKY-DADDLES: We’re going.

 

 

GOOSEY-POOSEY: To tell the king.

 

HENNY-PENNY: That the sky is falling!.

 

TURKEY-LURKEY:   May I come with you, Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, and Goosey-Poosey?.

 

HENNY-PENNY, COCKY-LOCKY, DUCKY-DADDLES, AND GOOSEY-POOSEY:  Certainly!. 

 

(Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey and Turkey-Lurkey walk along the stage. Foxy-Woxy is hiding behind a tree)

 

FOXY-WOXY:  Pst, pst.

 

COCKY-LOCKY:  Who’s there?.

 

FOXY-WOXY:  It’s me!.

 

DUCKY-DADDLES: (to Foxy-Woxy)  What are you doing there?. 

 

GOOSEY-POOSEY:  Are you playing hide and seek?.

 

HENNY-PENNY:  Come on, we’re wasting time!.

 

FOXY-WOXY:  (comes out from behind the tree) What’s up?.

 

TURKEY-LURKEY:  We don’t have time to play!.

 

FOXY-WOXY:  Where are you going in such a hurry?.

 

DUCKY-DADDLES: We’re going.

 

GOOSEY-POOSEY: To tell the king.

 

HENNY-PENNY:  That the sky is falling!.

 

FOXY-WOXY:  (looking up) The sky is falling?.   Good gracious!.  May I come with you Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey, and Turkey-Lurkey?.

 

HENNY-PENNY, COCKY-LOCKY, DUCKY-DADDLES, GOOSEY-POOSEY, AND TURKEY-LURKEY:  Certainly!.

 

(Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey,Turkey-Lurkey  and Foxy-Woxy walk along the stage)

 

FOXY-WOXY:  (stops walking) Wait, we’re going the wrong way!.

 

TURKEY-LURKEY:  Are you sure?.

 

FOXY-WOXY: Yes, I’m positive!. Do you want me to show you how to get to there?.

 

HENNY-PENNY, COCKY-LOCKY, DUCKY-DADDLES, GOOSEY-POOSEY, AND TURKEY-LURKEY:  Oh, certainly!.

 

HENNY-PENNY:  We must tell the king that the sky is falling!.

 

(Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey,Turkey-Lurkey  and Foxy-Woxy walk along the stage.  They reach a dark cave)

 

GOOSEY-POOSEY:  This is a dead end!.

 

FOXY-WOXY:  No.  This is a short way to the king’s palace.  Follow me, and we will get there soon.  I will go first and you come after Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey, and Turkey-Lurkey.

 

HENNY-PENNY, COCKY-LOCKY, DUCKY-DADDLES, GOOSEY-POOSEY, AND TURKEY-LURKEY: Certainly!.  

 

(Foxi-Woxy enters the cave)

 

TURKEY-LURKEY:  I’ll go first.

 

(Turkey-Lurkey enters the cave)

 

GOOSEY-POOSEY:  I’ll go second.

 

(Goosey-Poosey enters the cave)

 

DUCKY-DADDLES:  I’m next.

 

(Ducky-Daddles enters the cave)

 

COCKY-LOCKY:  It’s my turn.  (he enters the cave.  A few seconds later he yells)  Run, Henny-Penny, run!.  Don’t come in, go home, or he will… Argh!.

 

HENNY-PENNY:  (running away) Oh my!.  What happened in there?.  I’m going home, and the king will never know that the sky is falling!.

 

(Henny-Penny leaves the stage)
