GENIE:  It’s a pleasure having you in my palace.  What can I do for you?

HARE:   Almighty genie!  YOU have the control over everybody and everything in this forest. YOU are a true master!  I really need a favor.

GENIE:   What kind of favor?

HARE:  Just one thing.  Please, make me wise and intelligent.

GENIE:  Well, well, well!  Everybody wants to be rich, and you’re asking me to make you SMARTER.  Why?

HARE:  Because I want  to be more intelligent than all the animals in the forest.

GENIE:  Fine!  But you have to show me what you’re capable of.

HARE:  I’ll do whatever is necessary!

GENIE  If you can get me five blue birds, five white butterflies, a bee as big as you… then I’ll see what I can do for you.

HARE:  I’ll get them!  I won’t fail!

(Hare leaves the stage)

ACT 2

(In the forest.  Hare enters looking tired.  She sits on the floor beside a pond.  All kind of animals enter and start drinking water from the pond, then they leave.  5 blue birds enter and drink water from the pond.  Then they start playing and jumping.)

HARE:  Today I’ll know what I’m capable of.  (yelling) No!  It can’t be!  That’s impossible!  That is not true!  I can’t believe it!  No, they are not that many.

(The 5 blue birds approach her)

BLUE BIRD 1:  Hey, HARE!  What are you talking about?  What’s the matter?

HARE:  (disappointed) It’s nothing. It’s just impossible.

BLUE BIRD 2:  Please, tell us what’s wrong.

HARE:  Someone told me that you could come with me, but I know that is impossible.  You would get tired from the trip.

BLUE BIRD 3:  (laughing)  Are you kidding?

BLUE BIRD 4:  We never get tired!

BLUE BIRD 5:  We always fly long distances!  Flying doesn’t make us feel tired!  We can go with you wherever you go!

(The Five Blue Birds laugh and dance around the hare)

HARE:  Great!  (5 White Butterflies enter and start drinking honey from flowers by the pond) Wow! They are the most beautiful butterflies I have ever seen!  But no!  I don’t think they can do it.  That would be imposible!  But what am I thinking about?

(The 5 White Butterflies approach her)

WHITE BUTTERFLY 1:    Hey, HARE!  What are you talking about?  What’s the matter?

HARE:  (disappointed) It’s nothing. It’s just impossible.

WHITE BUTTERFLY 2:  Please, tell us what’s wrong.

HARE:  Someone told me that you could come with me, but I know that is impossible.  You would get tired from the trip.

WHITE BUTTERFLY 3:  (laughing)  Are you kidding?  You’re not serious, right?

WHITE BUTTERFLY 4:  We never get tired!

WHITE BUTTERFLY  5:  We always fly long distances!  Flying doesn’t make us feel tired!  We can go with you wherever you go!

(The  5 White Butterflies laugh and dance around the hare)

HARE:  Great!  (A big Bee enters and drinks honey from a flower)  What a beautiful bee!  But no!  I don’t think she can do it.  That would be impossible.  But what am I thinking about?

(The Bee aproaches her)

BEE:  Hey, HARE!  What are you talking about?  What’s the matter?

HARE:  (disappointed) It’s nothing. It’s just impossible.

BEE:   Please, tell me what’s wrong.

HARE:  Someone told me that you could come with me, but I know that is impossible.  You would get tired from the trip.

BEE:  (laughing)  Are you kidding?

HARE: No, really, you couldn’t.

BEE:  I never get tired!  I always travel long distances!

HARE:  Perfect!  Let’s go everybody!

5  BLUE BIRDS, 5 WHITE BUTTERFLIES, AND HUGE BEE:  Yeah!

BLUE BIRD 1:  Hey, wait, you haven’t told us where we’re going.

HARE: That’s a big surprise!

WHITE BUTTERFLY 1: Is it good…or bad?

HARE:  Good, of course!  Come on, before it gets dark.

(They leave the stage)

ACT 3

(At the Genie’s palace.  The Hare, 5 Blue Birds, 5 White Butterflies, and the Huge Bee stand before the Genie)

GENIE:  (to the Hare)  I was waiting for you.  (looking at the 5 birds, 5 butterflies, and the bee)  I see you brought company.

HARE:  Will you grant my wish now?

GENIE:   I don’t think so!

HARE:  Why not?

GENIE: If I make you more intelligent, I would be making a big mistake.

HARE:  How come?

GENIE:  Because YOU ARE very intelligent!  If you get smarter, you could become my master.

HARE:  Then…am I more intelligent than the other animals in the forest?

GENIE:  You’ve always been smart, but you didn’t know it.

5 BLUE BIRDS, 5 WHITE BUTTERFLIES, BEE:  What about us?

GENIE:  What is your wish?

(They all start talking at the same time.  Hare leaves the stage walking out triumphally)
