Jerry: I won’t. I’m very excited to have him with me for the weekend.
Eddy: You mean with us.
Miss Sue: No Eddy, this time Rex will be his responsibility.
Jerry: Did you hear that? Only my responsibility.
(The school bell rings)

Jerry and Eddy: Bye, Miss Sue.

Rex: I’m Rex… I’m Rex.
(Grandmother enters the room)
Grandmother: Oh, what a beautiful bird!
Rex: Oh, what a beautiful bird!
Eddy: Hi grandma… Rex is our class’ pet.
Grandmother: What is he doing here?
Eddy: It’s Jerry’s turn to take care of him for the weekend.
Grandmother: You have to be careful… keep your bedroom’s door closed.
Jerry: Don’t worry, he will always be in his cage.
(Grandmother leaves. Jerry’s mother enters)
Mother: Jerry, Louis is on the phone.
Jerry: Thanks, mom.
(Mother and Jerry leave. Eddy stays in the room)
Rex: I’m Rex… I’m Rex.
Eddy: It’s so hot in here!
(Eddy tries to turn on the air conditioner)
Eddy: The air conditioner doesn’t work… I have to tell mom. I’ll open the window.
(Eddy opens the window)
Rex: I’m hungry… I’m hungry.
Eddy: Hmmm, Jerry told me to stay away from you Rex.
Rex: I’m hungry… I’m hungry.
Eddy: Fine…Hmm where’s did Jerry put your food?
(Eddy starts looking for the food. He finds it in Jerry’s backpack)
Eddy: Here it is! … I’ll give you some seeds.
(Eddy opens the cage door. Rex escapes and flies out the window)
Rex: I’m going home… I’m going home.
Eddy: No! Come back, come back! … Oh, no… I’m in big trouble!
(Jerry, Grandmother, and mother enter)
Mother: What’s wrong?
Grandmother: Why are you yelling?
(Jerry sees the bird cage empty)
Jerry: Where’s Rex?
(Eddy starts to cry)
Eddy: Oh, I’m sorry Jerry, I tried to feed him and he escaped.
Jerry: What!
Mother: Why did you open the window?
Eddy: It was so hot in here, I tried to turn on the air conditioner but it doesn’t work, so I opened the window…
Mother: And when you opened the cage door to feed Rex, he escaped, right?
Eddy: Yes, mom, I’m really so sorry.
Jerry: I told you to stay away from the cage… what am I going to do now?
Grandmother: Just tell your teacher the truth… she will understand.
Jerry: Rex is lost! And Miss Sue will never trust me again.
Mother: Let’s go to her house and tell her what happened.
Jerry: I’m so embarrassed!
(Mother hugs Jerry)
Mother: Come on, let’s go.
(They leave)

Jerry: Miss Sue, I came to tell you how sorry I am. I lost Rex.
(They hear Rex talking)
Rex: I’m Rex… I’m Rex.
Jerry: What was that?
Miss Sue: It’s Rex… he came back home.
Eddy: Miss Sue, please don’t blame Jerry, it was all my fault… but now that I remember, when Rex flew through the window he said … I’m going home!
Rex: I’m Hungry… I’m Hungry!
Eddy: Oh, no! Not again!
